Context & Initial Challenges

RMIT Vietnam is an international university with campuses in Saigon South (HCMC) and Hanoi, serving thousands of students. The university was pushing for more online and hybrid learning, which required the network infrastructure and technology equipment to provide continuous connectivity everywhere on campus. The challenge was to upgrade the ICT infrastructure uniformly across both campuses – including wired networks, Wi-Fi, classroom cameras, and PA systems – without disrupting teaching during the academic year.

Netcab’s Solution

Netcab consulted on and implemented a comprehensive campus network solution for RMIT. High-performance LAN and Wi-Fi systems were installed throughout classrooms, libraries, dormitories and other facilities, ensuring students and faculty could connect to online learning platforms anywhere on campus. In classrooms, we equipped cameras to record and live-stream lectures, supporting hybrid teaching; we also deployed a campus-wide PA (public address) system for announcements. The upgrades were carried out on a flexible schedule outside of class hours, upholding RMIT’s mandate of “no learning disruption.”

Results & Value

Both RMIT campuses now have modern ICT infrastructure that meets the needs of 4.0 education. On-campus internet connectivity is consistently stable and high-speed, allowing RMIT to effectively implement online and hybrid learning even during peak usage. The classroom camera and audio systems have helped the university enhance administration and the learning experience (for example, recording lectures and making timely announcements). Most importantly, the entire upgrade was completed on schedule and without impacting class time, enabling RMIT to maintain its reputation for educational quality.

Through the RMIT project, Netcab demonstrated its experience and understanding of the education sector’s unique requirements, ensuring the technology infrastructure effectively supports teaching and learning under all circumstances.
